If you’re dreaming of an unforgettable Oregon Coast couples photography experience, Florence, Oregon should be near the top of your list. Just a short drive from Portland, and an even shorter drive from Eugene, this location is unlike any other. This coastal gem offers sweeping sand dunes, windswept grass, rocky coastline, and—if you time it right— miles of golden wildflowers in full bloom.
On June 4th, I had the pleasure of photographing Courtney and Aiden for a romantic bridal portrait session right on the Pacific. The result? Soft, glowing light, intimate emotion, and a gallery full of editorial-worthy images we’ll all be proud of for years to come. I’m serious, guys. You aren’t ready for how stunning every single one these photos are.
In late May and early June, Florence’s Jetty Beach transforms into a sea of yellow wildflowers and sandy dune. The drive through the South Jetty Beach Dunes National Recreation Area is dotted with bright yellow blooms, and the open skies make it a dream for Oregon Coast couples photography.
This area is also especially unique, as there is a countless number of sandy dunes and whispy grass. All of this paired with a lower foot traffic makes it the perfect Oregon Coast photo location year-round. Additionally, it’s close proximity to Eugene, Oregon also make it an especially convenient location.
Even if you haven’t visited this area before, you are sure to find some stunning areas I’m certain you’ll enjoy.
The day of before our session, I made sure to check the forecast for the next day. At the time, Florence had called for mild, sunny weather with a high of 70 degrees—but coastal climates love to surprise you.
When I actually arrived a few minutes early to scout out the location, the windchill made the actual 58°F weather feel more like the high 40s. All that to say, definitely keep in mind the unpredictable weather if you’re planning your own Oregon Coast couples photography session.
📍 Planning Tip: Bring layers, extra clothing changes, warm blankets, and flexible expectations. The wild beauty of the Oregon coast is always worth it, but you may have to pivot the vision a bit.
Courtney and Aiden showed up down for any and every idea I had. Within minutes of starting the session, I knew that we were going to have some absolutely STUNNING photos by the time it was over. Their chemistry was effortless, and they nailed every prompt and pose I threw their way. From wind-swept hair to editorial barefoot-in-the-sand shots, they leaned in fully.
At first, Courtney and I were a bit nervous about the wind being as strong as it was. For reference, we’re talking about probably 10-20 MPH wind gusts in the sand dunes. To say I was nervous about things like sand in our eyes is an understatement.
Thankfully, the wind truly worked in our favor and helped bring out even more emotion and cinematic vibes than I thought were possible.
As golden hour hit, we moved closer to the ocean. The sun dipped low, casting long shadows and warm, golden light across the beach. Every frame literally GLOWED. Although we skipped ocean dips due to the cold, we captured soft, windswept moments candid and cinematic moments that felt absolutely timeless.
